Ingredient Story and Benefits
Chamomile from Jirisan, Korea
Chamomile flowers, blooming profusely in the Jirisan mountains of Namwon, reach their peak in April. Originally, the organic chamomile farm in Bojeol-myeon, Namwon, cultivated these flowers to feed organically certified cattle. The cows that consumed this chamomile were healthy, inspiring the farm to expand its chamomile cultivation for cosmetic use.
Organic chamomile from Bojeol-myeon is harvested in late April and undergoes a month-long extraction and maturation process. This maturation brings out the beautiful chamomile aroma, reminiscent of apples.
Chamomile is a well-known medicinal herb that was widely used in Europe as a household remedy until the early 20th century when effective cold medicines were scarce. It has been enjoyed as tea, and used in baths, beauty treatments, and poultices for centuries.
The azulene component in chamomile helps soothe irritated skin, reduce inflammation, and improve allergies, making it a popular ingredient in cosmetics.
